島唄 (Shima Uta - Island Song)
Another month clocked in for the year. This month's flavor for songs is definitely the song above. Played it so often, now the only tune i manage to hum is some sort of plantatonic scales.
According to D, that means a scale with the 2nd and 5th note missing.
While surfing some blogs, came across this Wicked game. Needless to say, I depended heavily on the forum that went along with the game to solve most of the clues. But now, at level 18, i'm stuck. Grrr... so annoying. Why is my answer wrong?
Currently reading: Sheer Mischief by Jill Mansell - I'm so addicted to Jill Mansell's stories. Romantic British love stories with some humour thrown in.
Just finished reading: Solo by Jill Mansell - Another sweet love tale by Mansell.
Switcheroo by Olivia Goldsmith - I did not realise it at the time i borrowed the book, but i've actually read it b4. Finished rereading it in a day.

Quotable quotes
"It takes a dream/idea to get a person started, but it takes guts and believe to c it realized."
Currently reading: Shaman's Crossing (Book One of The Soldier Son Trilogy) by Robin Hobb - Nevare Burvelle is the 2nd son of a 2nd son, educated since young to be a Cavala man but because of an incident during his training with Dewara, a Kidona plainsman, he is sort of linked to the Specks (forest-dwelling folks). Gobbled the book halfway through... still waiting for Nevare to display some magic of his own (well, this is a Fantasy book rite?). Though sometimes it reminds me a bit of Alucius, and sometimes, abit of Enid Blyton stories, it's still overall quite original and nice. =") Hope the 2nd book comes out real soon.
Just finished reading: Kiss by Jill Mansell - Enjoyable read about Izzy and her teenage daughter Kat, who ended up renting a place fm Gina, the good wife whose husband ran off with his pregnant mistress. Then, there's Sam, the nightclub owner. Well, Sam ended up with Izzy, Kat with Simon, and Gina with her boss and all's well in the end. The book's drama seems to be double the usual doses. (twice as thick too.) Will enjoy another book by the lady.
Son of A Witch by Gregory Maguire - Interesting but the ending is unsettling. Why did Candle throw the baby away? Was she forced to? Did she stranggle him or was he born dead? Did she know he was green, like Elphaba? Wat will Liir do now?

White sand, blue sky and bluer sea...
The short trip pictures....
sand... sand... and more sand.... They tend to look the same after awhile :P

Think i could hv been more creative with the pics if only i'd been willing to stay a bit longer away from the shades, but at times the sun was so hot, i gave up. hehe...
And well, flowers of course...

Visiting Ru's site filled with her pics of friends and family which she has painstakingly scanned and posted had been great fun. Makes me itch to start one of my own as well, but, golly, soooo lazy to get started... next year maybe... or, when i eventually get to monopolize a scanner in the school premises...

Loki

Recently finished watching an anime which I've enjoyed immensely called Matantei Loki ~ Ragnarok (not to be confused with another anime called Ragnarok). (Matantei Loki is so cute in little boy form. *_*)
In the anime, Loki is a Norse God of mischief who was sent down to earth in the form of a child as punishment because he had offended Odin, the 'highest' God. Though that was wat was written in the box cover, nothing in the anime hinted at wat mischief Loki was up to, so having a need to give some closure to the whole business, I 'Wikipedia'd it, & found out tht Loki is quite an interesting character in the world of Norse/Scandinavian mythology. Loki is generally believed to be a shape-shifting giant who is the father of Jörmungandr the sea serpent which is huge enough to coil itself around earth (who is disguised as his butler/cook, Yamino, in the anime), Fenrir the wolf (a cute little bugger in the anime) and Hel, queen of Helheim, the land of the dead where people who died due to natural causes, sickness and old age go (and this was also how Hell got its name. Like cool). (He has a few other children with his other wives/husband... but let's not go there...) Some believed Loki to be an actual benign character, who is kind, helpful and intelligent if a tad mischevious at times, but with the coming of Christianity, Loki was eventually rewritten as an evil character who sides with the Satan instead.

Dog name
If you are lucky enuff to be a pet dog, wat name would you call urself?
In the book "The Well of Goddess", there was this dog, Oat-Beer, who, after drinking from the Well of Many Blessings, turned fm a dog to a young man. He said that when he was a dog, he used to day-dream that if he were a man, he would call himself Tristan. He then proceeded to ask Sianan (another character in the book), what name did she think of calling herself, when she was day-dreaming to be a dog instead of a lousy human.
I'm thinking if i were a dog, i'd hate to be called something like Blacky or Baby or Tom or god forbid, Lucky... *shudder*
Currently reading: All Around Town by Mary Higgins Clark - The story revolves around MPD. Laurie/Lee/Katie/Debbie/Leona was kidnapped and raped for 2 years when she was a kid, and at 21, she was accused of murdering her college prof, and her sister, Sarah, is trying to find out wat really happened. The story is quite exciting, though, abit dissappointed when the killer was revealed. Was hoping it'd be an even bigger surprise. A bit draggy, but still passably enjoyable.
Just finished reading: The Well of The Goddess (Book Two of the WELLSPRING trilogy)by Caiseal Mor - Guy, who was a baddie in Book One is turning to be a good guy in Book Two. The story is quite nice. There was once again, plenty of Irish Christianity vs. Norman Christianity arguments mixed in with the whole story, irritating at times, thought provoking at others. Interesting but does not hold as much attraction as fantasy books by L. E. Modessit and Robin Hobb.

finding nemo
Just came back from a sunny holiday snorkeling and looking at tropical fishes and corals. Ahh... the beach is so beautiful....
The only dampener was whenever i spotted some rubbish (empty bottles and plastic bags) thrown by some idiotic jerks. The place is so nice, i can't bear to imagine it becoming a polluted area anytime soon...
Will post more pics of the beautiful place later... the pic above was taken by some of the local divers there...

hot pink
hehe... how do u like my bold new colour?
The banner picture on top is actually a zoomed in picture of melting ice that formed on the knob of a nitrogen gas tank.
Currently reading: The Well of Yearning (Book One of the WELLSPRING trilogy)by Caiseal Mor - The flow of the story itself is abit messy... i wonder why the author insists on being a female story teller when he is a male. But, as it moves along, more and more things make sense, and i can't wait till some of the characters meet each other. I love the author because of the way he interprets things, from the silly Normans to the foolishness of some Christians.
Just finished reading: Cold Blood by Theresa Monsour - About a female police detective's messy love life and a serial hit-and-run murderer she is suspecting (who, it so happens used to have a crush on her). The murderer has a very pitiful life. The author loves using short sentences to explain mundane stuff like, "she took the red lipstick out of the top left hand drawer of her dressing table with her right hand. she uncapped it with a left hand and turn the knob. she look into the mirror. she applied the lipstick. she check for any lines that run out... " well... this is actually not part of the story... but it is something like that...
