Omiyages
My buddies hv been busy travelling. Yup yup! And sweet people that they are, they know i totally love omiyages, food wise or keychain wise. So, here are two recent ones...

HL & hubby just returned fm a trip to arizona, texas and california. I love this keychain. Don't u just love keychains which u can immediately associate with a place?

Another great gift. *lol* I loved the little white wooden clog. It shouts Holland ever so loudly. This is a gift fm S after L & him traipsed all over europe recently. L gifted me with a small bottle of herbal beer instead. hehe, trust him to equate spirit to gifts.

Old lady tale
I took half a day off to accompany my mom to the clinic today coz her shoulder had been acting up again, and she is hoping the doc has something to make her feel better. While we were there waiting, we saw this old lady being accompanied by her husband and daughter and I started thinking,"Oh my, such a lucky lady, with so many family members supporting her for a visit to a clinic." I was not alone in my assumption. My mom later told me she thought the same too.
It was only as i listened on that I realized the 'daughter' was actually a social worker, helping to get her papers straight, and the 'husband' was the driver who drove them over.
I can't really decide what it was i felt after that. Sad that she was alone? curiosity on why? Worry that i could b just like her a few decades down the road? I only know that thinking back of her, i sort of hear this silent roar, and sort of truly felt disquiet.

Tartines & ice cream
Went out with K, KS and SF for a simple meal and dessert. We ended talking for hours, nitpicking each others' jobs and life. I only realised much later that we were seated next to a pretty famous actress. A bit pai-seh when i thought about it coz, well, the rest of them actually knew all along. Gosh, and to think I was saying such embarassing stuff. *pink faced*
Food wise, we went to this french cafe (with a cute french waiter to boot!)and each ordred a tartine. I loved my smoked salmon and avacado. yummy!
Anyways, we then adjourned to Bens and Jerry for a few scoops of delicious ice cream. TQ Karen, for organizing the nite out.

Asian Dramas enjoyed

BINBODANSHI
This drama started off my short mania over oguri shun. shortly after, I watched the tv movie, Detective Conan also starring him as the Conan (before the shrinkage thingy). I wouldn't say he is cute. Neither is he a superb actor. But some lads just have that special something about them that keeps u glued to ur screen. And it's pretty safe to say he has that in abundance. Anyways, after watching the drama and movie, I watched Hanazakari Kimitachi E followed by Hanayori Dango (I and II) just to feast on with oguri shun. hehe, glad to say Ru share the same interest. Ah, cuzs hv same tastes.
I have been hooked on many Japanese dramas of late. I was hoping to pick up as much japanese as i could. U know, osmosis and all. I will just add one other pic here. For the longer list of all the stuff I put my time through, plse check out the drama page instead.

YUKAN CLUB
On the TVB front, 5 dramas I enjoyed. Well rather, I enjoyed 4 of them, but everyone else kept talking about the 5th one, I thought i'd include it here too.

SURVIVORS LAW 2

THE SEVENTH DAY

D.I.E. (Detective Investigation Extension)

CATCH ME NOW

FORENSIC HEROES 2
I loved the bantering between the two leads in SL2 very much. And both the love stories in 7th day left me in tears and stitches for many episodes. DIE was great coz i got to c Kok Chun Onn in action after so long. Catch me now was a disappointment tho. I was hoping for Joe Ma to b more... well... more. Instead, I found the whole CMN plot to be weak and boring, but everyone else in my flat seemed to love the drama, so i watched on. FH2 was another show i expected to me just as dull as CMN. Let's just say my enthusiasm was at all time low after CMN. Fortunately, I was wrong. FH2 was every bit as good as FH1, and even better, since now, we hv Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh to boost the cast. Fun fun Fun!
One the Korean and Taiwan drama front, although I have watched quite a few. None had left much impression. Oh, except for Legend , with Bae Yong Jun. But I was deeply dissatisfied with the ending, so, I wil not put its pic here. *hmph!*

We will Rock You

This was the first performance I attended this year (with Ru). And well, it could not have started off with a bigger blast. *gush gush* This musical was grrrreat! So much so that when I am writing this, many months later, I could still remember the euphoria of the moment.
The great leads aside, I loved the baddie "killer queen" with her big voice range and big nasty expressions. The little jokes they peppered everywhere, for instance naming one of the bohemian upstarters Victoria Beckham and claiming 'he' as the greatest musician in the 21st century was hilarious too.
I am kind of sorry I left the review for the show off for so long, as most of the jokes have faded fm my memory. I'm glad we both bought the sling backs and CD compilation though. I am listening to them now as I type this in.
Come to think of it, another thing which featured clearly in my mind was the amazing bodies all the dancers possessed. Ah... so great to be fit, beautiful, lithe and young.

Indian Food

Something like pepedil, but the spicy ones have too much spice for our liking.

Very rustic cup with lemony water inside

I think it's the tikki chicken appetizer

Here comes the main dishes. I had the fish while Ru had the lamb. Both delicious
We visited an indian restaurant near the theater where we'd b watching the performance later. The whole place was abit too dark for my liking, and service was a tad slow. But otherwise, everything was dandy. The person was very friendly, coming back to check on us a few times and introducing us to food which we are unfamiliar with. A good start to an evening of music...

Lunch & Dinner with friends
I did quite alot of meeting up this month. Started off the month with lunch at the IMM mall with vii followed by dinner at V-city with SS. Ended the night with a venture into the town of spice, curry and many a bangle - Little India.
Currently reading: Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey - About Phedre, Elua's follower who has been pricked by Kushiel's Dart, finding pleasure in shame and pain. Very uh, SM in parts. But on the other hand, it's also about her solving a political intrigue, and how she saved herself and her bodyguard, a Cassiel follower, fm slavery, and saved the kingdom fm barbarian conquest.
Just finished reading: The Subtle Knife & The AmberSpyglass by Philip Pullman - As with his other books, this trilogy was very well written but leaves an unsettled ending. I guess I am just a sucker for happy endings. I don't like that they both did not end up together.
