Baby-G
I went and bought myself my 1st ever Baby-G watch today. I saw it on display last Saturday and decided to get myself one. I know! Naughty naughty girl. One should not waste money in such useless petty things. I feel awful whenever someone asks me the price. But,uh... *blrrgh* nothing wrong with pampering ourselves whenever we want to rite?
I just can't stand the kind of attitude where one stares at and coverts something badly, and just can't make up his/her mind whether to get it or not. hehe...although admittedly, i do that too sometimes, I think that it is a waste of time and brain cells. If u can't afford something, then, forget about it. If u can afford it, then go for it. Why waste a few weeks of sleepless nights wondering whether u should purchase something? 'Just Do It'... Don't u just love this Nike slogan?
I was thinking of getting a blue one. But this pink one is nice and girlish. Think it'll add a nice feminine touch, ya? The backlite is an orange glow. My fav colour. Yippie!

China Town Romp
The Chinese New Year (Year of the Rooster) is arriving soon. It seemed appropriate to drop by Chinatown to see what sort of delicacies and stuff is on sale during this season.
Had great fun trying out the popular porridge and stir-fried dry-chilli frog legs. Then, my friend took me around to the stalls selling the dried sugary coated snacks, chinese biscuits and cookies, red and gold paper decorations, etc.
We then snacked on peanut paste soup and sesame/peanut filled soup balls. Ended the night with sugar cane juice.
U can hardly imagine how difficult it was to travel home, with a stomach so filled, it threatened to burst.
Had a wonderful day. *happy*

Clothes Frenzy
One of the things that I discovered since starting this blog was that I have a shopping fit once every month or so. This time round, I have bought myself an absolutely unnecessary piece of blouse, which I doubt will see the light of day anytime soon. The thing is, it looked so nice, I couldn't think of a reason not to buy it. haha... there had been plenty of good reasons, but why heed them?
A friend of mine said that she only love buying and shopping for working clothes, coz at any other time, it'll usually be just t-shirts and jeans. I had been thinking along the similar line too. Having done some digging to look at my younger days pictures, I found that I wore almost the same type of clothes the whole time. There is nothing wrong with it I guess, but there seems to be such a lack of sense of adventure.
So, whenever I find the courage, I put on something which I think absolutely clashes with my usual style, and brave it out in it for half a day or so. Who knows? There is always the possibility that I would find something new that suits me.

The Elusive Remote
My remote control broke down a few days ago, and I have been searching for the replacement ever since...
...Day 5...
The Hunt for the Elusive VCD Player Remote Control has gone on to day 5. Having tried 3 universal remote controllers (each on separate days), the hunt is still bearing no fruit...
Have decided to end this search until if and when the magical remote control cart comes back from the never never land it has flown off to. Until then, no forwarding & no rewinding for all the household members. *trickling tears* *Sad!* Have u seen a remote control cart in any shopping centre near u? If you have, please tell me asap! TQ!!!
Although, truth be told, I did enjoy scouring around some unknown neighbourhood to see what they have to offer. I ended up in this cash converter place (which is like a modern day version of a pawnshop), and they offer the most assorted kind of goods (baby tramps, phones, jewellery, electrical appliances, figurines, bowling balls, golf clubs!, drills ...). Unfortunately, their remotes come attached with their players. Bummer...hehe....

Work and Play
I have been meaning to start (add) this table into my entries since early this year. The number of blue stars would represent the number of tasks I have successfully completed and the no. of happy faces would be the number of hours I have spent doing something fun or something I enjoyed (take it like a sort of personal R&R).
The reason for this would be to comfort myself whenever i think i haven't done enough work, and also to indicate tht i am quite hardworking. *muah ha ha* Vain! Then again, when there are too little stars, and too many happy faces, it would be time to get cracking. Good idea rite?

The best assimilation would be when my hours of play are actually obtained from my joy while working.

"gat" or "hung" ?
A flatmate just returned from a working trip in japan. Here is what she got for each of us. A miniature 'jim fook' key-chain. Whatever stick that pops up or sticks out after u shake it (like a pepper bottle) would be your luck for the day. There is a big "gat" (very good luck), middle "gat" (average good luck), "gat" (good luck), "mei gat" (haven't or coming good luck) and "hung" (which means bad luck) stick.

Cute isn't it?
Below is another picture of winter snow taken near my cuz's place. U can spot the flock of birds in it.

Another new discovery in Korea: Long hair may be the cause for reduced intelligence due to their strong nutrient absorbing properties. *lol* Hair cut anybody?

I passed! I passed!

This picture was taken by another friend of mine, K.N.. What do you think of when you look at this picture? Will you think - (1) it's snow ball time? or (2) 'how empty/ cold it is?' or (3)'how beautiful it is?'
I dunno. I just like it. (:))

Continuing my night hauntings
One of the great feelings in life (ooo, i've got plenty of those) is to be able to sit down comfortably and watch a really long series, which you know will be kick-ass fun, and know that you don't have to worry about waiting to know the ending, coz, you already have the full set in your hands. AND also knowning that u've just started ur great adventure, so there is still plenty of time to watch the drama take place.
But all good things need to end one way or another. 3 more CDs to go. Will finish 'em tonight.
I find some of 'Ma Dai Fu''s favourite mantras really very fun to be used:
"If you believe, you won't have a problem & If you don't believe, you will have problem"
-or-
"If you believe you can, then you can, and if you believe you can't then you can't"
I'll run these mantras in my head to prepare for tomorrow's presentation.

2 nights filled with vampires
Spent the weekend alternating between refining my presentation slides and trying to finish the ATV Drama (Saga) : I Have A Date With Vampire III. It was great fun having a look at 'Tin Yau', 'Ma Siew Ling' and 'Fuk Shan' (the chubby kid from Part I and Part II) again. 'Fuk Shan' sure has grown in the past 4 years. Almost didn't recognize him at first. If it were not my flatmate confirming it, i'd still be thinking they have swapped the actor with some other kid. 'Ma Siew Ling' is still as pretty as ever. Getting prettier in fact. Her wardrobe is super cool too. Tin Yau, well, is his usual self, even when he is supposed to be 'Jin Tao'. But, tht's wat's so fun about him.
Regrets about this series: (1)Fuk Shan is no longer a vampire, so it isn't so much fun anymore. (2)The SDU team members died so quickly. (3)No cameo from Ma Siew Ling's ex-tou dai (forgot his name)
What I love bout the show so far are the 'Ma Tai Fu' and 'Ma Siew Fu' characters (Father and Bro. to Ma Siew Ling), the bro and sis team and *grin* looking at 'Nick', the Death Agent. Boy, tht guy is cute.
O.k., if you are clueless about what I've just been talking about, well, let's just say HK's ATV has some really cool dramas too. Not to mention pretty ladies and cute guys. Just look up My Date With A Vampire III (MDWAV 3) on ur search engine to get a feast.
I have developed some mild case of vampire eyes too, watching the show until 5 or 6 am in two consecutive nights. Can hardly keep my bloodshot eyes open, and I look as though I have added a few layers of eye shadow, on the wrong side of the eye.
Resolution for tonight. SLEEP EARLY!!!

recipe clippings
Ai, Alucius is still down. Worse in fact, after I cut off the bottom dead leaves. The remaining leaves are drooping so badly, he can't even support himself anymore. I doubt anything can revive it anymore. *sob*
Was flipping through this magazine earlier and saw these nice easy to prepare recipes for nice looking and yummy food. Was sorely tempted to cut them out, pictures, recipes and all and stick 'em in a scrap book of my own. The impulse to do so suddenly made me recall that my mom used to do just that. In fact, I think she still kept the dozen or so scrap books that she started after she married (40 odd years ago).
*grin* Maybe there are some grain of truth when those scientists talk about hereditary traits.

40GB HDD
hmm... should i get one portable hardisk for myself? It's selling at $179. Is tht a bargain? But I can't decide what to use it for. I don't hold any movies in my pc, and well, i have this ingrained superstition that mp3 music is just less perfect than CD, so I hardly keep music in the pc as well. Conclusion: KIV until next month.
A bit down today. Alucius is nearly dead. And I haven't had him for 3 months yet. Half of him is a rotten brown now. :( I can't decide whether to keep drowning him with water or let him have a dignified quick death (meaning, burying it in the mini garden outside). *aiya aiya... so sad... *

Shades of Truth
*grin* *grin* *grin*
Hehe, haven't been so excited over a new series since, er... watching Dicky Cheung's Mr Winner back in November.

This series is way cool. Hilarious and exciting enough to keep u wanting more. Really. I'm not just saying it coz Julian Cheung is in it.
I totally dig that guy whenever he acts these characters. *happy* Plus, once again, we get to learn some chinese action figures of the past. Mo Chun & Lam Chung.
Recent entertainment front news: The Golden Couple Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston broke up. *sigh*

slides done!
alrite! finished preparing around 25 slides in about half a day. I am sooooo capable *muah-ha-ha*
Had a new guitar instructor today. Mr. R.. Dorky, tall, friendly. Hope he'll b as fun as TM. Anyways, maybe a new instructor will make me practise harder. keke...
The school server seems to be holding some sort of vendetta against my pc. I have been having trouble going online for about a week. (yes, ONLY me!) But it's good in a way. Got me to concentrate more on getting my other stuff in order. Feel so energized, what with the new year and all...

eggs eggs & more eggs

O.k., here is the final product after 3 mornings of testing. Chawamushi (japanese egg pudding). Result = SUCCESS!! woo-hoo.
Hehe, the right steaming time is not really determined yet. What i did was force my housemates to test with me, like every half a minute, whether the egg has congealed or not. So, although 2 cups were used to steam the eggs, only one came out looking presentable. (they both tasted just as great though)
Ingredients (for 2 japanese chawamushi cups) = 3 eggs, half a bowl of boiled mushroom water, japanese light soy-sauce, needle mushrooms (the long stringy type) and crab sticks.
Steam for 20-40 minutes (depending on stove temperature)
More authentic chawamushi lovers can opt for real crab meat, prawns & fish meat instead.
P.S.: don't worry bout this site becoming a recipe book coz i've had enough of the kitchen for the next few weeks. (;P)
