Singfest 08

The August 08 issue of my blog is dedicated solely to the Singfest 08. The concert went on for 2 days (2nd & 3rd of August (Sat & Sun)). The two cuzs (Ru & B) & myself went for both days, having the time of our lives jumping and acting like teenagers pushing near the stage for better look at the various groups performing.

All the pictures here were taken using the smaller Canon. Had great fun taking pictures of the performing folks. The singers were all very charismatic and confidant. On the first day, CK's Shaun and Lostprophet's Ian were the most attractive in a dark sort of way, whereas Simple Plan & MEELEE exude more of the blonde-type of charm. Jordan of New Found Glory was the one who started the crowd to do a sort of spinning banging dance which is akin to being possessed by a bull that kept ramming everyone else until a circular area is created. Very violent but quite fun in a way.

The most boring part in the music festival is the waiting between some performances. The more popular the group is, the more anal they are about the sound quality and pitch of their instruments. So, we easily waited for 45mins between gigs just for all the setting up to be done. I decided to exit the place after Simple Plan started belting out songs from their newer CD (which I did not buy) and I missed out on Travis since I was not very familiar with their songs as well but Ru & B reported that they were great.

On the second day, the crowd seemed to have tripled, and the age group had gone up too. More people brought their picnic stuff as well. The crowd was less rowdy but once Panic at the Disco came up, things started pumping up more.

Jason Mraz and the team of musicians backing him were the greatest. He sang, he chat, he made cute actions, and he got everyone grooving. Superb. Check out the pictures I have of him below.

After dinner, we were quite reluctant to snake our way back down to the pit again so we stayed on slightly higher ground. The Pussycat Dolls got everyone dancing on their feet eventhough they didn't seem all dat great to me. hehe... Alicia Keys started off with songs with faster beat. None of them really attracted me either eventhough i've listened to all her CDs before. Maybe I felt that R&B pieces she sang were not really suitable. Perhaps I was tired after 2 days of rockin'. We decided to leave early and forego the rest.

Let's just assume dat apart from the concert, all i've done was work hard on my dissertation, which is nearing completion as i type this. *muah-hahaha*
