music box

There was this music box which I recalled in one of the sci-fi books I read once upon a time. This music box, being a sophisticated device of the future, was able to randomly manufacture great endless pieces of music. Sometimes, the melody could simply be a single note that carries on and on, and sometimes, the music could be made up of a thousand sounds, giving the listener a feast equivalent to the grandest orchestra ever. The most unique thing about this music is that no two pieces is ever the same. Once the music has been heard once, it is gone... and one will not hear it anymore.

Don't you find that invention to be rather sad? Great music should be something eternal... something that is repeated over and over and over again. Something that, when listened to, every couple years or so, would bring back the memory of past time pleasure or joy. It doesn't matter what music it may be... it could be a great overture, a nursery rhyme, a pop/rap/oldies, or a soundtrack from one movie or another. A melody should never be condemned to be heard only once.

hmmm...

Cheerie cheerie banana,
tick-tick goggle bangle bug...

Ai... life is so aimless when there is nothing to be done...

Firstly, wanna apologize once again to Ru for being late yesterday... hehe...

So muddle headed lately... glad that i'm not a surgeon, might just end up performing a brainsurgery on a wrong patient or something of that manner.

At the back of all my thots is the worried nagging that it's february. Another few months left to find something useful to write about. *oh groan groan groan* That one simple fact pretty much mutes up all other senses.

Just hate it when that feeling of self-doubt starts doing some monkey business in the brain. Messes up the hair, what with all its slip-on-banana jokes and lice-induced scratching in all the hidden nooks and corners.

Anyways, here is a handsome picture of a dessert that unfortunately did not live up to its looks....

Fortunately there was a chocolate fondue to make up for this poor excuse of fine cuisine... hehe... and thots of Heath Ledger as Casanova...

Lethal Weapon of Love and Passion

There must be some secret trigger in certain period dramas that bring out my admiration for their directing and editing abilities. I am extremely in love with the way this particular director uses his camera. I find his way of capturing the pictures to be unique and amazingly artistic and beautiful. The fighting scenes are imbued with a sense of dance and poetry. Almost every scene was captured with a palpable effort. And I fully appreciate the writer's portrayal of the characters. Instead of the usual clean good and evil evident in all period dramas, the characters here are not merely a black or white, but a wholesome spectrum of colours. We are led gently to understand and make up our own minds on whom we side. The Mongolians who are attempting to regain their reign are not portrayed as ruthless barbarians. Instead, at times they are more considerate than their counterpart Chinese (Middle Kingdom) rulers. This is not to say there aren't many good and brave Chinese around. *contented sigh* A truly majestic attempt... Way better than the hyped Buchunmu (Fei Tien Wu) - a Korean and Chinese collaboration based on a comic book, and a few other Taiwanese period dramas i've been watching lately.

Steamboat Wednesday

Yesterday had been a pretty hectic day. Woke up at about 8 to start preparing the soupbase for the steam boat galore we were gonna have at night. Then, rushed on to get my train ticket exchanged at the station. (Thanks to my brilliance in keying in the wrong date when purchasing the tix online. *roll eyes*) After that, took a cab to rush to my dental appointment to get my 3rd wisdom tooth extracted. The whole affair was so short, I was left with about 4 hours to spare while i waited to get my passport. What to do? Shopping.... hehe...

While waiting at the embassy, I wasted the time raffling through all the junk i bought. An hour later, a new passport in hand, i then grabbed another cab (the 3rd in one day...like wow...) to the ICA building to get my re-entry permit transferred.

Finally, all the travelling documents in order, I headed home in leisure, giving up my initial intentions of going back to school. And once home, it was chopping time. And below is the fruit of our labour. Thanks SF, for coming home early to help out.

The sauce is a mixture of peanut butter, sesame oil and crushed peanut. :) Yummy!!!

maternity blouses

Recently always end up browsing, trying on and finally buying maternity blouses. No... not for my sis, but for myself. *faint*

Pretty embarrassing especially when the sales lady comes up, discreetly trying to indicate that the racks of blouses are NOT SUITABLE for me. sigh!

Somebody, please ask the designers to start designing blouses with bigger sizes!

spank-spank

The person responsible of maintaining the immigration department website should be spanked in the butt, preferably, with a really thick roll of newspaper. The website caused numerous people to head for the wrong embassy location. Dozens of people, including 'moi' only realized about the relocation after reading the A4 sized paper pasted on the glass door of the old building entrance. This in turn, caused another hassle of looking for cabs to get us to the right place instead.

Another head scratching problem was in finding the website in the first place. Aren't they supposed to post their sites in the search engines or something?

And to complete the complain, the website was neither detailed nor accurate enough in their instructions. *mumble somemore...*

That said, I better wrap my own butt with a some extra padding, since I had stopped updating my team's website since last november. hehe... Ouch!

hrrr hrrr...

Our cubicle area recently resembled a tiny zoo with all sorts of bestial noises emerging. There is moi recovering fm her cold, blowing her nose like a hippo cum woodpecker and squawking like a crow. L also just recovered fm a cough, contributing with his occasional discreet cough very much like a nocturnal owl. S on the other hand recently picked up the habit to hemm, hurr, grunt & all sorts of rather err... innovative sounds. Pretty much represented all the other species in our home grown safari.

Nonetheless, thanks to S's habit, these days, we can hear his location out, as he 'pings' his presence with his habitual ehem-ehem. Pretty handy, when trying to locate said person in a crowded area.

Also as a result of having gotten used to these 'white noises', I'm proud to announce that these days i have much higher tolerance for all sorts of intentional/unintentional burpings and hiccups. Hehe... that is, as long as I am not the recipient of the foul air that follows along.
