hospital again
There you go... always some sort of excitement just as one settles down to a comfortable routine. Mom has been admitted again. Turns out, the fall last Monday was worse than we thought, causing some sort of compression fracture on 2 vertebri.
The remedy is simply lots of rest, making less movements and making sure the back is as straight as possible to avoid further compression. So, mom has to endure more awful tasting hospital food and it's back to some heavy traveling on my part. Will be heading there in awhile.
If all goes well, she'd be out of that boring place this coming Saturday. *keeping fingers crossed*

Living with mom
Have been slowly adjusting to living with mom again. Was just doing some mental calculation and golly, it has been 7 years going on 8 since I last lived with my mom. Sure, there had been short period visits and holidays that we took together, but otherwise, we had each had our own lives.
So, instead of grabbing some dinner at a canteen or a sandwich at the mall, I'm now making more visits to the supermarkets to get meat and vege. Trying not to hog the toilet and tv as much as before and coming home earlier. Think it's definitely a good way to make myself more disciplined. No?

Lunar New Year
This year, Lunar New Year has been more busy than usual. Instead of just sleeping in late and doing nothing except staring at the tv, this past week I had done some really serious shopping, getting tidbits for visitors, bedsheets and covers for 3 people, buying tangerines and helping to clean the house, making phone calls to a long list of people and basically not doing any school related stuff watsoever.
Eve had been spent at ta-jiujiu's home, eating all those delicious yummies in our reunion dinner. All those little nephews and the little baby niece are so adorable, but i have a hard time trying to remember and get their names right. :P Spent the 1st day cleaning the house abit more, and doing loads and loads of washing. On the 2nd day, after a bright and early (5.30am)morning scare thanks to mom accidentally rolling off the bed in her sleep (she felt better after awhile), we made our way to tayi's home to eat another grand delicious meal. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
Another day of rest, and it's back to teaching again. Seems like it's the only work i'd done since last year. *sigh, if only i'd sit my ass down on a chair and obediently get 1000 words on the hard-drive everyday. I think dat'll be my Lunar New Year resolution.

Bossy Me
Indulge me as I go on about life with Mauerize and mom. I had been thinking that if I were writing a blog as Maurize, it would go something like this....
Finally went back to dat dark & super dirty flat with madam & her extremely weird daughter. Oh my God, the kitchen is so dirty with about an inch of dust, I wonder how the people here live. I spent the whole of yesterday scrubbing the kitchen, and dear me, I think there are lots more scrubbing ahead. The toilets *faint*
*Regaining consciousness* So many cleaning and washing to do, on top of preparing meals for all 3 of us and taking care of madam. However can I cope. Ouch, my tired arms.
These people are quite weird. They use those chopsticks so often, I need to get the hang of using 'em useful things too, and with mdm not fully recovered yet, we end up eating porridge with all these strange tasting pickled veges all the time. What are they trying to do? Slim me down? Sheesh...

Mauerize
Feels a tad awkward to imagine a real life live-in maid in my crampy little flat, but there you go... circumstances and chain of events and all that pile.
I am actually cramping the whole month's blog into one day (again) and the order of stuff may be a bit skewed, so, just put up with my jumbled thoughts.
Mauerize (not exactly her real name) has been staying with mom in the hospital since Wednesday. Gives mom a companion while the rest of us are not around. Finding a room to house Mauerize has been rather traumatic, since there are already 5 of us living there, so, sacrifices (of space) had to be made, and I'd like to take the opportunity here to thank SF and HL for giving up the study room space and LP for helping us do all those heavy duty heaving and pushing too.
Mom has been having a difficult time remembering Mauerize's name since it's not exactly chinese. So, her name changes from MaryAnn to Melissa to Mariza to Mauerize to her fav. Ma-De (sigh... my mom has a love-hate relationship with vulgarity). So anyway, after days of having so many names, my mom has sort of settled on christening her as Mauerize. The spelling is complicated but pronunciation wise is easy enough. Luckily too, Mauerize is understanding bout our short tongues and shorter memories.
Mauerize is probably not reading this, but, if u r, welcome into our humble little family. Hope you have a nice time working with us. :)

Beautiful Mistakes
The pictures below are all microscopic in size, taken with an Olympus microscope. They are all rather badly done fabrication, due to one problem or another but looks cool nonetheless. hehe... talk about arty farty...

Currently reading: Tuesday's Child by Louise Bagshawe - another chic novel. The heroine in this case is a tom boy who'll eventually succumb to the world of English rose type.
Just finished reading: Monday's Child by Louise Bagshawe & Rescue Me by ??? - Monday's Child is about a reader who became a scriptwriter ala ugly duckling style, and Rescue Me is a tad more dark about drugs and love and unhappy marriage, etc.
