Back Again!
Hehe... more frequent visitors would realise that I have not updated this blog for about a month. All the little posts here were done a few days before the end of July. Hope you guys had a great month.
Looking forward to a super productive August! がんばて みなさん!
Currently reading: Killer Hair by Ellen Byerrum - About a fashion reporter trying to solve a suspected murder case of a hairdresser.
Just finished reading: (i) Silent Partner by Stephen Frey - Bout a super rich man hiring a lady to help him in a world of corporate takeover and all the banking related stuff. Pretty interesting.
(ii) Long Lost by David Morrell - About Brad Denning's hunt for his long lost brother who appeared and subsequently kidnapped him wife and son. David Morrell rocks!
(iii)Shattered by Dick Francis - About Logan, a glass blower who managed to solve a mystery. The stuff they told about glass blowing are pretty cool. Too bad it was quite easy to guess who the bad guy was.
(iv) Creepers by David Morrell - Another cool book by Mr. Morrell. This one is about a bunch of people who infiltrated a hotel. Their journey through the sewage system was totally gross. Still gives me the creeps.
(v) Death Mask (Book 5 of the Harry Dresden series) by Jim Butcher - Oh... very very nice. The right dosage of wizardry, modern technology and delicious romance.

dramas mania

Disclaimer: All the fabulous pictures above are obtained from much better sites than this one here and were not taken by me. I've only contributed the little blue and red bubbles. I've forgotten to take note of the links but just paste the titles in yahoo! or google to get the right sites. Many apologies.
Story wise, My Girl is funny. It's in my list of fav. Korean dramas. Princess Hour is unique and special. I loved looking at the Korean traditional stuff infused with Western styles. Totally creative. Forensic Heroes (recommended by vii) was also immensely enjoyable because each case was solved in a different manner, unlike the usual formula used in other tvb dramas. Still, between the 3 of us watching the drama, we always managed to guess the right murderer. The last one is the usual run of the mill taiwan drama. I hv yet to finish it but according to LP, it went a bit draggy towards the end.
Though i've watched a few other dramas in the month, these few are my fav. July has been a good drama month. *happy*

4th World Choir Games
Argh... 3rd time i'm writing this post thanx to the Firefox screwup.
Anyways, keeping things short, the dino icon i've pasted for this month is the Games' mascot. The other is a ratty yellow sick-looking cat tht everybody hated.

We managed to breeze through the prelims (or Part 1) and got 2 silvers in the finals (Part 2) after practising our lungs out. C official website for further details. The results announcement and closing ceremony is a pretty cool affair. My favourite was when the Latvia's Jauniešu Koris KAMĒR..choir went up and sang. *whistle* Way cool.
The weather there was blistering hot. We ended up not going anywhere thanks to some sort of grade 5 typhoon brewing nearby. Too bad. Otherwise, the trip had been pretty smooth, with excellent company. :)

lost my camera :(
Bummer... another reminder that I am a truly forgetful and clumsy person.
Eulogy for my dearly departed camera:
"Dear T-9, though we've only known each other for a few months, the short time had been filled with sweet memories snapped full of love and care. I will miss ur sleek & compact dark body dearly and I lament over the lost of your 1G memory. We have yet to get more comfortable with each other, you with my handshakes and me with your more manual functions, snapping speeds and video functions, but I guess wat matters is the short time we have had each other."
"Though occasionally, I may lay some curses on your new owner, I pray that you will lead a happy life being loved and used to your full extend. Good bye and good luck..."

practices & tests
The past few weeks have been crammed full with practices and more practices. And this is added with a few dashes of hurried experiments. Oh boy... what a lot of stuff to catch up with once the whole competition frenzy blows over.

Battle with the Pigeons
My next purchase item in my beloved scroll of shopping list is a water gun. I'm already relishing the feel of pulling the trigger and squirting some pigeons off my balcony. Sigh! Call me cruel all u want.
Pigeons are truly stubborn and annoying. They coo and coo and coo none stop. They shed and they shit, mate, lay eggs and coo somemore. Argh! Borrowing a fav word of L, they are ubiquitous. I've attempted everything from stealing their eggs, destroying their nests of dry twigs, making loud banging noises to spraying their favourite spots with mosquito repellant but they bullishly return, determined to gain back their territory. There are so many other spots that they can terrorize, I don't understand why they refuse to give up my little insignificant balcony. And are pigeon shit truly cancerous? I dunno... but thinking about it is enough to give me the hives. They even toppled a few of our pots that we stacked up to gain access to one of the little nooks. Truly violent and vicious.
And I've stumbled upon this short blog by a lady who shared similar sentiments. It made my day much more cheerier. hehe...
