chemicals & expiry dates

I planned 8 days of hard working process this month *applause applause please* but on the 3rd day of my self imposed 'ganbarre' week, i found dat one of the chemicals I had to use, a liquid polymer (which expired a few months ago) had decided to 'harden' on me. So, instead of liquid which I was supposed to drip on top of wafers as they spin @ the speed of5krpm, i got myself 2 bottles of jelly like substance which refuses to flow.

So wat was a girl to do? I went on a frenzy looking for solvent to make these useless (but expensive) chemicals usable again. Unfortunately, thnx to delivery issues and big $ complications, my hardworking days were cut short.

Oh bother. It's like the gods are telling me to get back to my dramas. It's a sign I tell ya. A sign dat I'm not cut out for hard work. hehe.

Häagen-Dazs®

We had this mango and pomegranate flavoured ice cream with belgian chocolate twice this month as it was so good. *lick lips* The fruits surrounding the ice creams were a perfect match.

spin odyssey

The Spin Odyssey was the last of the Arts Festival performances we watched together this year. Amazing really, we actually went to every single one of the performances they posted up. B joined us for this last performance by a bunch of very able young men from Korea. These Last For One hunks made us salute hip-hop with respect. Respect. Respect. Respect. *boom boom cha...*

Ru thought this was the best of all the shows we've watched. I gotta admit, watching those lithe boys twist and twist and twist somemore was tantalizing. I counted the spins one of the lad made and it went above 20 rounds. Amazing. And he could still walk straight after all that spinning.

Here's a youtube video of them fooling around. A video would speak a gazillion words i say.

They were much more polished than wat u can see up there. Here's one of the trailers for the spin odyssey musical itself...

auto auto

Two well dressed gentlemen shared the stage with an ugly red car. They had very wonderful singing voice and harmonized beautifully. These two German lads then proceeded to bash the car up part by part while singing or beating up a tune.

Most of the banging which did not involve any music was quite poorly done I felt. I think they should take some lessons from Stamp.

Other than that, it was quite thrilling seeing them render a car to pieces. It got quite scary at one part when one of them started using a big hammer. With all the glass flying around, we were all worried for the performers' safety. Their eyes in particular.

A truly dangerous act indeed. They were not kidding when they called they performance the 'Car Smashing Symphony'

Between e devil & the deep blue sea

This was one of the performances we enjoyed abit less, probably because of the strangeness of the tales. When we walked in, a lady with her face painted all white was already playing some nice 20's cabaret music while everyone got seated and comfortable. They made used of a projector which showed mostly sepia or black and white pictures interspersed with story telling one liner projections while a mime or two acted the story out. The whole effect was quite cool, but like I said earlier, the stories were rather grim. They had about 9 tales if I remembered right. One was them was the 6 ways a person can die or something similar. I disliked the tale about the dream a girl had. Disturbing.

Most of the acts inside reminded me of the Kransky sisters. There was one part where they ask one of the audience to dress one, and another when they started playing dat saw and fiddler instrument.

Here's something I found on youtube which may give u an idea of wat the play is about...

aerin's

This place is much brighter than other places which is suppose to be good for photographs, but unfortunately, I still have some control issues with my photo takings. hehe.

Anyways, the calamari was good. The crust much more delicious than the usual fare. The main dishes were just mediocre though. The chocolate dessert may not look all dat nice but was quite delicious. We didn't like the freshly baked apple pie tho. The filling reminded both of us of chinese soup. We were so full, most of the dessert went to waste. Note to self. Order less food in the future.

What would be the point of getting a cool camera if I can't show off some of the pics here huh?

Pics taken in and around esplanade the past month or so while waiting for the performances to begin.

Canele yummy food

If there is a saying that a person truly grows wiser with the food he/she consumes, I feel as though I'm practically a guru now.

We were quite hesitant to eat here initially because of the name of the restaurant, Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie, bringing to mind only dessert and chocolate. Luckily for us, the main dishes they served here were nice. I loved the pasta. Ru took the beef stew while i stuck to seafood pasta. The lemon grass tea I had was very nice too. A nice drink to clean the palette before sampling the different dessert. I only recall tht the last dessert was called strawberry shortcake (last pic). All the cakes were excellent too nonetheless. *yummy*

Currently reading: Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher - darn it, trust me to re-read the same book simply because i've forgotten i've read it before.

Just finished reading: Demon Thief, Bk 2 of the Demonata by Darren Shan - About a boy who sees colour puzzles in the air which he can move about to access the demonata world. He stole a demon fm there when he was younger and made it his brother. The uneasy part about this tale is how his parents despised him for returning home many years later because they hv gotten used to life without him.
The Death List by Paul Johnston - About a writer who was blackmailed into writing a killer's autobiography while the killer kills everyone he had despised and tried to put the blame on the writer.
Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan - I finished the whole series. I forgot how many books dat consisted of. 12 perhaps? All in all, it was not as fun as I hoped.
