Look left, look right...

snippets of conversations here and there...

"...weird day. Met a new friend today and he turned out to be a friend of my favourite author...."

"...what i've learnt after 2 and a half years in the work force. A sort of maturity, more firm footing. Less impulsive and silly mistakes and more care in my work."

"... he knocked me gently on my head with his knuckles as I burst into tears, thinking about the months we'd be spending apart from one another and the journey he was about to take."

"...wat?" sounding as though he has just woken up... "Wat meeting? Oh shit... i thought today is a Saturday! U guys go ahead. I'm gonna grab a taxi there.

Currently reading: Gateways by F. Paul Wilson - Finally, Jack and his father met. And (spoiler ahead) his father knows wat he is doing... Yes! Like cool....

Onni

Pictures of the ingredients for onni and the final product.

Ugh... all the hard work, sweat and scrubbing. *shudder*

Broadband!

Gonna shop for some broadband this weekend. yay! The power of love finally spurred HL to bow in the pressure of modern technology and opt for some faster speed of connection at home. I'm of course excited to jump in the bandwagon, although I have yet to decide wat I plan to do with my share of the 'thing'. Hmm....wonder if there are some anime that I can download. Legally of course.

Flatmates

The past few lunches this past week have been spent discussing the many different types of flatmates we've all encountered.

One does find that each of us have our own weird habits. Some if not most are the product of plain laziness and others are just an inborn/inbred of err... "unusual behaviour". It's still a relish of sort to listen to some of the horrifying stories that others encounter.

For instance, there's one that uses up half a roll of toilet paper everytime he showers, and keep the shower on for half hours on end. How very Howard Hughes, don't you think? His mates suspects that he uses the paper to wipe himself dry. Then, there is another who has no qualms leaving bowls and mugs to ferment and let the moss prosper. And then there is the girl who enjoys throwing away any visible empty of half-empty plastics bottles and such because of her 'anal'-ness. Oh wait, that's me.

Ah well, life won't be so interesting would it, if we don't have some sort of disturbing humanistic faults to find every once in awhile ?

Currently reading: The Haunted Air by F. P. Wilson - Another ghost house. But I bet it'll be one of the best story ever! Another instalment in the Repairman Jack series. Bought the book from Amazon along with the Robin Mckinley books.

Just finished reading: The Immortal Highlander by ... - Silly book about a girl who can see fairies, and how she saved this prince who was being punished by the Fairy Queen. It's another one of those Irish tales. Draggy little thing.
The Dwelling by ... - A ghost house crammed with ghosts of diff. origins in different rooms. A rather depressing book.
Beauty & Rose's Daughter by Robin McKinley - Two rewritting of Beauty and The Beast by the same author, 20 years apart. Nice... but not as interesting as Sunshine (another story by the same author).
Deep Heat by Chris Mansy - About a girl who got dumped the same day she got discharged from the hospital having removed her appendix. I disliked almost every single character in the book, so, no... did not really enjoy it.
Forever Odd by Dean Koontz - The sequel to Odd Thomas. Maybe coz I waited for the book so long, it was abit of a let down. The whole book happened in a day. Way too short for my taste.

singing for our dinner

This month seems to be crammed with singing of some sort or another. Went to Eric & Eileen's chinese wedding dinner last night and the 9 of us sang a couple of love songs for 'em. The food was nice. The 'onni' dessert (yam paste & gingko nuts) at the end attracted us to stay just a tad longer to savour. I'm heading to the market one of these days to hunt for some yam.

Practices for the coming choir games have begun, and it's made my weekdays seem much shorter than they used to. Oh well, keeping fingers crossed that we'd be able to get into the finals and actually win something.

yummy sushi

Thnx to SF's sudden brilliant idea to go for a sushi dinner, we (LP,PW,SF & myself) trotted down to the nearby sushi shop to get our fill after some frantic messaging back and forth yesterday. HL unfortunately could not join us since she was still busy getting to know the route to her new working place.

All in all, a nice treat. The added bonus being we get to walk it off together as we trudged back to the flat. *sigh contentedly*
