Yummy Dinner...

Obssesed with food as usual...

I so love gathering with the housemates. Amazingly, we managed to finish off the 2 pizzas, a pasta, drumlets and wings, 2 salads, soup and washed everything down with our drinks.

Happy Birthday SF! Wishing you the best years ahead...

My 1st YouTube

Haha... ok... so i did nothing here except to cut out and paste into Window's Movie Maker. But I'm still a tad proud. I totally loved the Power Station song. err... dunno wat's the title though.

If u guys are interested in a really good anime fan MV. Check out this one.

Tyler-jihaku

It's definitely my favourite, the way the guy obtained all those great clips with superb quality from so many anime and time them to perfection with the music. Ahhh... v. impressive. But google video is rather slow, so I'd suggest u install the google player and download the clip instead of waiting an eternity for the clip to finish uploading. I found this out thanx to vii's advice. *wink*

3 fm F4

I've been itching to compare these 3 dramas since I started watching 'em. And now that I've finally finished devouring 'em, I'm right and ready to do just that...

*interlink my fingers and stretch*

Let's c, I finished watching Silence with Vic Zhou first, followed by City In The Sky with Ken Chu and finally The Hospital with Jerry Yen

I have to grudgingly admit that my favourite is The Hospital. Silence was a pretty laid back drama. You know from the first few episodes onward that Vic was gonna die in the end so i was prepared for some bucket full of tears to come pouring. It did, and well, I do think that Vic's acting has improved since his Meteor Garden days, though LP begged to differ. hehe... He looked so skinny here compared to Mars, maybe coz he slimmed down to suit the role and purposely wore clothes a size or two too large. All that aside, he looked good in black. *drool*

Anyways, I was actually more looking forward to Ken Chu's acting, since I thought he had always fared better than the rest; more weight and stability. Unfortunately, the drama was pretty bad. It's abit annoying why he is always flashing his "supposedly" boyish grin. It's rather watery these days. The drama was further dampened with those awful mumbling done by half the casts. It doesn't help dat my version had no subtitles. In short, the drama was a waste of time.

The Hospital was a good drama. LP & my fav character is the 2nd guy in the pic above besides Jerry. The character Jerry Yen portrays is dissappointingly useless. It grits on my nerves that he is so indecisive, always simply going with the flow and never making a firm decision. *turn nose up* So extremely without a backbone. I only just found out fm CW dat in the Japanese version, the character Jerry played was way more gutsy. Ai! Anyways, I liked the drama because of the uneasiness it provoked. Every character in the show has a good and evil persona (yeah yeah, all the better dramas usually hv such characters) and you can somehow understand and get frustrated along with them.

So, back to the 3 leads, I'd say I liked Vic's acting the most. Ken's was pretty bland, but Jerry's... oh boy! He is sooo lucky to have such chiselled good looks, coz I doubt he can survive with his acting. lol. Pretty mean I guess, but watching him is like watching the rerun of about 5 actions. 1) picking up and putting down papers/ files with no reason wat-so-ever, and repeating action until scene is over. 2) staring somewhere, anywhere, as long as not into another person's eyes. I think he is the type who is totally uncomfortable with eye contact. 3) Putting hand over mouth or near mouth, maybe in an attempt to hide a smile or school his expression or show his very pretty hands. 4) Smiling his angelic smile dat totally melts anyone. 5) Acting blur (his way of expressing deep feelings, anger, anguish and everything else besides smiling)

cussing in style

The words people use to curse are so standard these days. The British loves "bloody ..", the Americans and everyone else loves "f***", and then there is "go to ..." and HK's "your mother's ...".

I personally like "shit". But it gets abit drabby cussing the same word over and over again after awhile. I'm recently thinking of changing my fav cuss word to "stool". Like "'stooling' machine refuse to work properly again"; or "'oh-stool' i forgot my stuff again", or better yet, "'stooling-idiot', i'm late again."

Any creative cussing u can think of?

Currently reading: For Us, The Living by Robert A. Heinlein - It's about a man who travelled 150 years into the future (from 1939 to 2086). I didn't realize when I borrowed the book that the author actually wrote the book around year 1939. Bearing a dislike for pretty much all form of classic (especially classic science fiction), i'll slowly ploughing through this book. The author's perception of technology in the future sometimes hit the spot, and sometimes don't. It's interesting to note the differences.

Just finished reading: Justice League of America: Green Lantern by Dennis O'Neil - Pretty cool science fiction type super hero story.

sore looser

Thanks to the blogging i've been doing in yahoo, i'm now spoilt rotten. It's so darn easy to add a picture there that i'm too lazy to do the same over here. Anyways, here's one picture i took.

oh, the sore looser story, oops, no time to elaborate now. can pretty sum it up by saying i'm such a lousy ping pong player.

Currently reading: 'A' is For Alibi by Sue Grafton - there are so many suspects, i gave up figuring out who dunnit and just concentrated on her story. hehe...

Just finished reading: (1) The Darkening by Chandler McGrew - something like end of the world; (2) A Season to be Sinful by Jo Goodman - hehe... romantic book (3) Corsair by Chris Bunch - about pirates

o-bento

Hehe... this impromptu lunchbox was brought on thanks to all the leftover from the weekend cooking. The potato salad sauce is made of heated butter, grinded pepper and salt (abit too much of it in fact). Those green stuff on top are leftover asparagus fried with onion in butter. And that orange globe is a left over egg. Heh... I think only I would dare eat this lunchbox.

These few days I've been going gaga over the japanese language, thanks to some great J-dorama series that I've managed to catch on YouTube. Too bad there are always those copyright issues... sigh! It isn't that I mind paying to watch dramas, but ~USD235 just for an 11 episode series seems awfully steep to me. Is it just me?

Anyways, I would really like to applaud all those teenagers (~17 to 21) who put so much effort into their sites and make such wonderful fan music videos (FMV) and translations. Visiting their sites introduced me to so many new things, I think I experienced some sort of cultural shock. Or, maybe it should be called "age" shock. :P There are so many creative young minds out there i feel assured somehow that they would be able to create a better future. *continue singing praises for all the great kids out there.*

a donut weekend

Spurred by the wonderful pics my cuz took of a donut shop they visited in Namba, Japan, I decided to try making a couple of donuts myself. So, after searching abit on the internet, I dug up one of the simplest recipe they had and here are the results:

The recipe is as follows:

1 c. white sugar
3 eggs
3 tb spoon oil
4 tb spoon baking powder
1 c. milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 c. floor
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Mix the dry and wet ingredients seperately. Then mix together. Spoon out the sticky dough and fry in about 2cm of heated oil.

The recipe I used is half of the original one, but I ended up with so many donuts, we are still eating the leftovers today. :P The sweetness of it gets at you after awhile. Luckily, after the donuts, I made the sardine cutlets that my sis taught me. I only realized after i've finished eating the very last piece that I forgot to add the butter in. It still tastes great. The best thing about the cutlets is the sauce. Oh, *ecstatic* yummy!

Recipe for the cutlets: 1 can of sardine in tomato sauce, 3 cooked & pealed potatoes, 3 onions fried in a bit of oil, an egg, some flour and as much butter as you want. Mash everything up, spoon out and fry in lots of oil.

For the sauce, lots of small chilli, dark soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, chopped up onion and a bit of oil. Heat awhile and serve with cutlet.

lost

Lost in the night...

Oh darn, i'm being hit by one of my melancholics (or should it be melodramas?) again. Doesn't it just annoys u when people start acting really lazy and yet claim that they are so busy doing nothing?

Oh boy, somehow, i've lost my way and ended up here again. Not knowing wat to do next. Wat a shame. Well, *hmph!* wat else can i do but to give myself a few days of holiday and buck up again. *~sweep some dust off my butt and stomp forward~*

p.s.: oh, My Boss My Hero is sooo nice. Nagase Tomoya! *drool* ^____^"

Currently reading: Intimate Monolithich Int. of Chip-Scale Photonic Circuits by Sabnis et. al.

Just finished reading: Rescuing Rose by Isabel Wolff - Bout a 39 year old aunty agony's agonies. She's into annagrams and her housemate introduced her to the world of astronomy and gastronomy. Pretty nice book.

Golly, as the year shrinks, i get more depressed at the beginning of each month. Oh time... where art thou?

But on the bright side, it's nice to see some pocket money in the bank. Thank goodness for scholarship. Oh wait, *depressed again* I need to start doing some TA next year onwards. Please please please please please give me a subject that i can understand to teach. *panic* Oh no... the thought of facing students asking me questions that I have no idea how to answer. The horror of it... I think i'm gonna hv nightmare tonite. *faint*
